Friday Afternoon Sermon

GOD CHASTENS HIS CHILDREN - Chastening is the greatest proof that you are in the family. Today at Family Worship Center, Pastor Joseph Larson reads Hebrews 12:5-17 discussing how the believer must not despise the chastening and discipline of the Lord. When we allow sin in our lives to remain, and are without chastisement, the bible calls us bastards. Through our trials, we must have patience, and to our profit, we will be partakers of His holiness. Holiness can only be perfected through grace. God’s grace is not only His forgiveness, but it is power for us to pursue holiness. If we turn our backs on grace, and we willfully sin after receiving the knowledge of truth, then we lose our power source to obtain victory in this race of life. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Christ came as a man and died on Calvary’s Cross as our representative, and by faith we are triumphant with Him. Brother Joseph reminds us, we need a faith that will endure; through chastening, God produces roots in us that we will grow strong, and we will understand it better by and by.
